Send in the Clowns..
Clownfish, also known as anemonefish, are colorful, tropical members
of the damselfish family. Clownfish have an obligatory symbiotic relationship with sea anemones; they
can survive and reproduce only when living under the protection of their host anemone. Clownfish gain "immunity" to
an anemone’s powerful sting, by gradually exposing more of their bodies to the tentacles, until they have acquired a
protective coating of the anemone’s own mucous.

Ocellaris Clown (aka Nemo) - This little guy kept darting in and
out of the anenomes, as though to remind himself he was safe from intruders in his home sweet home. Taken with
a macro lens, about 3 inches from the fish and as safe a distance from the anenomes as a macro lens allows. This clown, about
2 inches long, was photographed down about 30 feet in the South China Sea.

Shrouded in purple-tipped stinging anenomes, this tri-color clown seemed
to feel very brave. Larger than most, this clown was about 3 inches in length. South China Sea,
